Introduction: -
The board lamination market revolves around a versatile manufacturing technique where layers of material are joined together to form a solid object. This process is characterized by its ability to create complex geometries using various materials, making it suitable for rapid prototyping, custom manufacturing and low-volume production in various industries. Key technologies include selective laser sintering (SLS), laminated object manufacturing (LOM) and ultrasonic additive manufacturing (UAM). These methods enable cost-effective part production with less material waste than traditional machining or casting methods. Market growth is driven by increasing demand for customized and lightweight components in the aerospace, automotive, healthcare and consumer goods sectors. Advances in materials science, such as biocompatible polymers and composite materials, further expand the application area of sheet lamination. As technology advances, the sheet lamination market is poised to expand with material innovations, process efficiencies and wider adoption of industrial manufacturing.
The global Sheet Lamination Market value was X.XX billion in 2023, it is Expected to rise X.XX billion 2032 with CAGR of X.XX%
Market Overview: -
The sheet lamination market is primarily divided into ultrasonic additive manufacturing (UAM) and laminated object manufacturing (LOM). The ultrasonic additive manufacturing method uses metal sheets joined by ultrasonic welding. This requires additional CNC machining and removal of unbonded metal that is done during welding.
The method of making laminated items uses a similar layering but uses paper instead of metal and glue instead of a welding process. LOM uses cross hatching to allow easy removal of post-production structure. Laminated models are recommended for aesthetic purposes, such as models, and are not recommended for structural use.
However, ultrasonic additive manufacturing uses a variety of metals such as aluminum, titanium, stainless steel and copper, making it suitable for structural engineering. LOM was developed by Helisys Inc. (now Cubic Technologies). The global market for sheet lamination is small because it is not the most popular 3D printing method. However, it remains one of the fastest and most affordable ways to create rapid prototyping.
Market drivers: -
the Sheet lamination market can be divided into ultrasonic and laminated manufacturing technologies, each with separate drivers. Laminated items do not produce very accurate details, so it cannot be used to create working prototypes. It is used to create scale models or conceptual prototypes to be used in design or mold testing. Another application is traditional manufacturing models such as sand casting or metal casting. LOM is used in the pharmaceutical industry to produce bone mimetic biostructures for research purposes from zirconia-based bio ceramics. Even wrist, cochlear and facial bone prototypes have been made and measured using this technique. Another application is in the pulp and paper industry in the production of PVC, paper and other compounds. Ultrasonic additive manufacturing is of great importance in the electronics industry. UAM machines enable very small to very large shapes to be formed with high precision. It also finds a foothold in functional components, a segment that accounts for almost ½ of the total rapid prototyping market. These are expected to be the drivers of the laminate market in the coming years.
