Introduction:

Polybutene terephthalate (PBT) is a member of the polyester polymer family. It is a semi-crystalline engineering thermoplastic material with properties and composition similar to polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PBT is widely used in the manufacture of cast iron, stainless steel, bronze and ceramic-based car handles, fuel system components, wiper covers, connectors and seat belts.

Polybutylene Terephthalate -PBT Market expected to reach the market size of nearly USD 5.20 Billion by 2032 from USD 3.10 Billion in 2023, CAGR of 6.72% (2024 - 2032).

Polybutylene Terephthalate helps protect electrical and electronic components with very high electrical resistance and high dielectric strength, protecting the circuit from leakage and failure. Good slip resistance at high temperature, UV resistance and excellent heat aging behavior are some important features of PBT.

Overview:

Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is among the top five engineering plastics. It is one of the strongest, hardest, lightest and most versatile semi-crystalline polymers. Properties such as good dimensional stability, low water absorption, high rigidity and good heat resistance make it a good competitor in automotive extrusion and electrical and electronic equipment. Due to PBT's excellent material properties such as chemical stability, heat resistance and strength-to-weight ratio, it has been increasingly used to replace traditional materials including stainless steel, cast iron, ceramic and bronze in the automotive industry.

Polybutylene terephthalate has excellent heat and chemical resistance properties, making them suitable for use in fluid handling systems, high temperatures and fuel systems. The availability of alternative products such as PPT with almost identical properties limits the demand for polybutene terephthalate. Both high capital costs and government restrictions on the use of plastic products may restrain the polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) market. However, the increasing use of polybutene terephthalate in electric vehicles for manufacturing internal and external body parts will increase the global level of polybutene terephthalate (PBT) during the forecast period.
